dc.description.abstractof systems in the macroscopic regime. Nevertheless, at smaller scales, the principles of the macroscopic theory of thermodynamics cannot be applied in the microscopic regime. In this context, a major challenge in the scientific community arises: the formulation of the principles of thermodynamics for systems in the quantum regime. A topic of great interest in this field is the study of quantum batteries. In recent years, this area has gained significant relevance due to its implications for the development of more efficient technologies. The importance of quantum batteries lies in their potential to overcome the limitations of conventional batteries, as well as their ability to improve key energy storage processes while increasing the efficiency of charging and discharging processes, resulting in longer battery lifetimes. These advances are achieved by exploiting quantum resources such as coherence and quantum entanglement. The main objective of this work is to analyse the implications of quantum effects on the performance of self-discharging processes in batteries. This process is analogous to the energy decay processes inherent in conventional batteries. In this study, the advantages of using coherence as a resource to optimise the ergotropy, which represents the useful energy in single-qubit systems, are analysed. In addition, the model is extended to systems of interacting N-qubits, in order to explore the resource of quantum entanglement and to analyse the collective decay resulting from the interaction between batteries (qubits). In this study, the influence of the geometry in which the system is configured for arrays of N = 4 and N = 5 batteries is also analysed to determine the effect of the geometry on the decay times in the self-discharging process of the system.es_CO
