| es_CO |
| dc.description.abstract | A patient named Saitama, an entire male canine, Criollo breed, 5 years old and weighing 20 kilos, was admitted to the Drs. Reyes Small Animal Clinic. The owner reports that he scratches his ears and around his eyes, nose and one of his paws. Physical examination revealed thick skin, keratinized nose, slight ocular secretion, temperature out of normal range, moist and slightly pink mucous membranes, heart and respiratory rate within normal range. The skin assessment showed bilateral inflammation at the tip of the ears, with the presence of small ulcers, in addition to hirsute hair, perilabial and periorbital alopecia. According to the list of problems it is oriented to perform different diagnostic tests such as: -hemoleukogram, which shows lymphopenia with thrombocytopenia; PCR test (blood sample) which yielded a positive result for Leishmania sp, but the type of Leishmania sp was not classified and a -test (Rapid Test Kit) for Leishmania sp, which yielded a positive result for Leishmania sp. Cytological analysis was performed from the small ulcers that the patient had in the inflammation of the ears, by biopsy with fine needle aspiration or Paaf and then smear and staining was done, in order to determine the presence of amastigotes of Leishmania sp, being able to demonstrate the presence of compatible structures in the phagocytic cells. The patient was treated with dipyrone sodium 2 ml, for fever; Urocuad® (allopurinol) and meglumine antimoniate (Glucantime®), S-adenosylmethionine (Hepatic care®) as hepatic protector and finally a concentrate for sensitive skin problems (Proplan® sensitive skin). The patient responds to the established treatment. | es_CO |
