Abstract

The following monographic essay is based on the analysis and interpretation of the porro, of the suite number two, of the Colombian master Gentil Montaña, written in the key of Em, to be interpreted in the classical guitar, in which we present the biography, definition of porro and suite, its musical form, important characteristics that include it, as well as its respective harmonic and melodic analysis of each one of the measures. However, we delve into its complexity at the time of its interpretation, since in certain measures its fingering and interpretation is difficult due to the speed at which this work is interpreted. Likewise, step-by-step recommendations are given on how to study these fragments in order to correct them and achieve a good sound in their interpretation. We also took into account the musical dynamics suggested in the score as well as the nuances found in it, suggested by the composer in the work, classified as follows: crescendo, decrescendo, pasty sound, pizzicato, bright, metallic, this to give an appropriate character and color to the work. In addition to the above mentioned, we present the background that has been developed from this work and the different interpreters both national and international, which have included in their repertoire this porro, many of them interpret it with their own arrangements and their characteristic to play, but without losing the characteristic air that represents the Colombian porro, making this work known worldwide and the name of its composer, the master Julio Gentil Montaña
