| dc.description | Comprender el funcionamiento del cuerpo humano es fundamental en la formación médica. El concepto "conócete a ti mismo" ha sido una máxima importante para filósofos como Kant y Rousseau y a lo largo de la historia, tanto para los antiguos griegos, en el hinduismo, el budismo, y hasta en el cristianismo y toma un papel fundamental en medicina al enfocar esto al concepto de que nadie conoce mejor la enfermedad que el propio enfermo. Sin embargo, aunque los pacientes pueden sentir en carne propia lo que está sucediendo, los procesos físicos, bioquímicos, celulares y moleculares subyacentes pueden estar muy lejos de sus propias sensaciones. Por lo tanto, los médicos debemos ir más allá y entender qué es lo que pasa en el cuerpo de las demás personas, de nuestros pacientes. Es aquí donde la fisiología humana—el estudio de las funciones y procesos que ocurren de forma normal en el cuerpo humano, desde los sistemas, órganos, tejidos y células del organismo, su regulación y el equilibrio interno—nos da esas herramientas para entender cuando se pierde este equilibrio y se cae en lo que conocemos como enfermedad. Las actividades prácticas en la enseñanza de la medicina, tanto en ciencias básicas como en la clínica, son fundamentales para la formación de médicos competentes, críticos y seguros. En los primeros años de la enseñanza de la Medicina, estas actividades ayudan a los estudiantes a desarrollar su razonamiento, a mejorar la comunicación y el trabajo en equipo y a prepararse para entender situaciones médicas reales con las que se enfrentarán en años posteriores de su formación. Por lo tanto, es importante no solo llevar a cabo actividades de lectura y discusión, sino también procedimientos prácticos que refuercen los conceptos teóricos, particularmente en el ámbito de la fisiología humana. Hoy por hoy contamos con simuladores, realidad virtual, realidad virtual aumentada, laboratorios virtuales, robots, entre otros elementos y herramientas que facilitan este aprendizaje. | es_CO |
