    Abstract: This essay aims to identify the strengths of political participation, the analysis of the power of social networks, the new forms of citizen participation, the polarization of arguments within the public sphere and its trivialization in the public interest, in turn , analyze social networks as a new space for youth participation and the new groups formed that open spaces for a new participation, construction and appropriation of cyberspace that enhances the contribution of citizens in the public sphere, in addition to proposing new forms of social control and limitations that the internet may present.
    Description: El presente ensayo tiene como objetivo identificar las fortalezas de la participación política, el análisis del alcance de las redes sociales, las nuevas formas de participación ciudadana, la polarización de argumentos dentro de la esfera pública y su tergiversación en el interés público, a su vez, analizar las redes sociales como nueva plaza de participación juvenil y los nuevos grupos conformados que abren espacios a una nueva participación, construcción y apropiación del ciberespacio que potencia la contribución de los ciudadanos en la esfera pública, además de plantear las nuevas formas de control social y limitaciones que puede presentar el internet.
