Abstract

Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is a syndrome that groups together a set of clinical signs that affect urination, such as: dysuria, urinary frequency, hematuria, stranguria, and periuria. One of the most common causes of FLUTD is urolithiasis, which designates the origin and effects of stones lodged anywhere in the urinary tract. A urethrostomy is a surgical method, which is performed when the cat has repetitive episodes of obstruction, providing a permanent opening to minimize the possibility of new obstructions. The following report reports the clinical case of a perineal 23 urethrostomy in a 4-year-old common male feline patient who presented with recurrent urethral obstruction.
