Abstract

Hypothyroidism is a disease that affects the secretion of the thyroid gland, causing a decrease in the thyroxine hormone, affecting in the animal different body systems and attitudes of the pets that presents it. The following report reviews the clinical case of a patient, who has a frequent endocrine disease in canines called hypothyroidism, due to the poor function of thyroid hormones. The signs showed by the animal are compatible with the disease. It is necessary to classify the patient's condition, perform the laboratory tests and the appropriate study to get a correct diagnosis of the problem, to establish the appropriate measures of treatment and the management of the patient. Although the diagnostic tests initially performed were not sufficient for hypothyroidism diagnosis, the favorable response and the decrease of the clinical signs presented by the patient, confirm the diagnosis initially proposed by the veterinarian
