Abstract

Ingestion of foreign bodies is common in both dogs and cats, the ingested object can be lodged in any part of the gastrointestinal tract causing alterations in the site and causing an obstruction, therefore the patient must enter surgery urgently. This paper describes a clinical case of a American Staffordshire Terrier canine of 5 years old, which presented frequent vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, decay and lack of appetite. He

was performed a ultrasound, where an irregularly shaped foreign body inside the stomach is evidenced, increase in duodenal diameter due to líquid content inside, and fluid in the abdomen, gastrointestinal obstruction by foreign body was diagnosed, subsequently the respective blood chemistry tests were carried out, the patients were stabilized and immediately underwent surgery to perform their extraction.
