Ruptura uretral posterior por traumatismo de etiología desconocida en un chihuahua de 8 años de edad.

Abstract

Urethral rupture is most often associated with pelvic fractures that generally occur due to trauma in car accidents, falls, bumps, bites, etc., where the clinical signs due to trauma may be masked and leads to a misdiagnosis. In contrast to the above, the case of an 8-year-old Chihuahua dog canine patient who had disappeared for 1 hour was reported; A physical examination was performed, presenting wounds in the right anterior and posterior limb, and at the level of the inguinal region a small hematoma in his right area, presented lack of appetite, dehydration and dysuria. His temper was aggressive due to the presence of abdominal pain, since it was distended; for this reason he was hospitalized at the Mascovet clinic. Different diagnostic aids were made, including blood count, blood biochemistry, ultrasound, radiography and urethrography, reaching the definitive diagnosis of a posterior urethral rupture due to trauma of unknown etiology, causing uroperitoneum and acute renal failure (ARI), but also with the aids. The patient was diagnosed with prostatitis and pubic fracture. The treatment to be followed was surgical intervention (terminoterminal urethroanastomosis) together with post-operative intra-hospital care for 10 days and their respective orchiectomy, both treatments to correct prostatitis, uroperitoneum and IRA.
