Efectividad de las pruebas audio-vestibulares versus las pruebas electrofisiológicas para la evaluación de la disfunción vestibular en adultos y adultos mayores.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The main objective of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of vestibular audio tests versus electrophysiological tests that evaluate vestibular function METHODS: This study is a quantitative-meta-analytic systematic review, since in addition to summarizing the evidence found this will be analyzed statistically RESULTS: The index and reference tests of the study have an approximate value for the variables of sensitivity and specificity of 80%, both tests have high levels of heterogeneity and from the values of the area under the ROC curve ( AUC) provides that the diagnostic test with the highest accuracy corresponds to the electrophysiological tests with a value of 0.84 ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION: the electrophysiological tests are slightly more effective than the audio vestibular tests, since their diagnostic precision is slightly more high and has greater sensitivity. However, the results that describe the efficacy of the vestibular audio tests do not make much difference and therefore it could be said that according to what was found in the studies, both tests are useful when evaluating vestibular function and discriminate an alteration CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study fit with what the theory mentions when highlighting that the electrophysiological tests corroborate the presence of vestibular dysfunction more accurately and that they are more used to complement vestibular pathological diagnoses.
