Abstract

INTRODUCTION: The objective of the following research was to develop a Clinical Practice Guideline based on the phonoaudiological management of patients with stuttering. METHODS: It is an evidence-based clinical practice guide, summarizing the current understanding of the nature, identification, diagnosis and treatment of stuttering in adults. A systematic review of the literature was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness and effectiveness of the treatment for stuttering. RESULTS AND ANALYSIS: Strategies are provided to help phonoaudiologists in their own conduct of assessments and interventions of stuttering in adults is strong evidence of the existence of evaluative methods from samples of fluency of spontaneous speech and reading that allows observe the events of disfluence in the users, in addition within the processes of intervention the existence of two methods of restructuring and modification of the speech is evidenced. CONCLUSIONS: Stuttering is often treated with therapies for which there is insufficient evidence, and initiation of treatment is often unnecessarily delayed. The guide presents treatment methods whose efficacy is supported by current evidence.
