| Abstract: | Pets that commonly experience hip problems are those that have suffered trauma. This can range from a fall from a great height to being run over or injured while jumping. Hip dislocation (where the ball and socket joint pops out of its socket) is common and causes severe pain. Fractures of the pelvis or femoral head can also occur as a direct result of trauma. The prognosis for hip surgery in pets is generally good to excellent, and most pets can enjoy a good quality of life after surgery. With proper rehabilitation and follow-up, many pets can resume their usual activities, such as walking, running, and playing. It is important to note that the primary goal of most hip surgeries in pets is to relieve pain and improve their quality of life. The results are often excellent, with a significant improvement in the pet's comfort after surgery. |
