| Abstract: | his research aims to carry out a contextual and interpretative analysis of Heitor Villa-Lobos’s piece O Polichinello, understood not only as a piano work but also as a cultural manifestation that reflects the dynamics of Brazilian musical nationalism and the processes of hybridization between the popular and the academic. The study focuses on exploring the historical, structural, and expressive aspects of the piece, identifying how metric changes, atonality, rhythmic and melodic motifs, as well as the virtuosic energy of the work, contribute to shaping a unique language that connects the local with the universal. Despite certain limitations, such as the scarcity of bibliography in Spanish and the prevalence of sources in Portuguese and English, this research seeks to provide a new perspective on the understanding of Villa-Lobos within the Spanish-speaking context, recovering the symbolic and cultural background of the suite A Prole do Bebê No. 1. The methodology to be applied follows a qualitative approach of descriptive-analytical character, based on the review of documentary and biographical sources, as well as audiovisual records of different performers, which allows contrasting diverse technical and expressive approaches to the piece. Furthermore, the research is theoretically grounded in the perspective of decolonization, understood as a framework for revaluing the autochthonous and questioning Eurocentric logics that have historically marginalized Latin American musical expressions. |
