Abstract: This monograph deals with the concept of freedom established by Philipp Mainländer in his work Philosophy of Redemption (2014/2020). The main objective is to reconstruct briefly this conceptualization in the following order: chapter I groups together the concept of freedom in two directions, specific to this research, to talk about the individual’s will and the character that accompanies it as an obstacle in the affirmation of the individual’s will. This is the negative direction. Then, the passage of the Unity that gave origin to the world and all the plurality of beings determining their course towards redemption is exposed. This is the positive sense. In the second chapter, the ethical implications of this concept of freedom are brought together with special attention on how it distances itself from the notion of autonomy and where these lead to major forms of denial of the will: virginity and suicide. As for the methodology, this study has a qualitative approach, of a theoretical-hermeneutic nature. The design adopted is of a documentaryanalytical type that is oriented towards conceptual elaboration, rather than empirical verification, which is why it mainly uses the analysis of philosophical works and specialized critical studies. The primary source is Philosophy of redemption [Die Philosophie der Erlösung] (2014/2020). As secondary sources, academic literature specialized in the metaphysics, ethics and ontology of the Mainländer system was collected. It is concluded that the concept of freedom in the German system is determined by the innate character and movement of the will which leads all beings towards nothingness. Mainländerian ethics, far from being normative, seeks to reduce and avoid suffering, showing that this freedom consists in assuming with lucidity the inescapable destiny of the world.
