| Abstract: | Geographic information systems (GIS) have had a very important development over the years, in which several achievements have been made that turn this technology into a sophisticated means that facilitates the management and analysis of spatial information. This is why the objective of this monograph is to investigate how geographic information systems are applied in engineering, estimating their capacity to collect and analyze geospatial data related to watersheds. It is also important to emphasize that there are still challenges and opportunities that are required to improve the software that facilitates the collection of watershed data. The research carried out has allowed us to understand how GIS are effective tools for visualizing, analyzing and preventing problems that may arise in watersheds. |
| Description: | Los sistemas de información geográficos (SIG) a lo largo de los años han tenido un desarrollo muy importante, en el cual se han alcanzado varios logros que convierten a esta tecnología en un sofisticado medio que facilita gestionar y analizar la información espacial. Es por esto que el objetivo de la presente monografía es investigar cómo se aplican los sistemas de información geográficas en las ingenierías, estimando la capacidad que tienen de recopilar y analizar datos geoespaciales relacionados con las cuencas hidrográficas. Asimismo, es importante enfatizar que aún existen desafíos y oportunidades que se requieren para mejorar los softwares que facilitan la obtención de datos de las cuencas hidrográficas. La investigación realizada ha permitido comprender cómo los SIG son herramientas efectivas que permiten visualizar, analizar y prevenir las problemáticas que se puedan presentar en las cuencas hidrográficas. |
