| es_CO |
dc.description.abstract | This research aims to determine the behavior of lung cancer in adult patients with no history of smoking, to obtain a regional epidemiological profile. This is a descriptive study, conducted over a period of 10 months between July 2015 and April 2016. Patients were included in ages between 30 and 90 years diagnosed with lung cancer by histopathology and not to count on history smoking. The data were obtained from the review of medical records of patients Hospital Thoracic Board with presumptive diagnosis of lung cancer, from 1 September 2009 to 31 August 2014. Statistical analysis was performed with the software IBM SPSS Statistics 19. Of the 164 clinical histories, 19 were included in the study; the age range was the most representative of 60-69 years. The 52.63% were female and 21.05% of the total population residing in rural areas. Pneumonia was established as the most important antecedent pulmonary disease (19%). 42.1% had a history of exposure to wood smoke. The progressive dyspnea (84.2%) was the commonest symptom reported by patients, and the most frequent was the pleural effusion (57.9%). Those who deny having smoked in the life, and that unfortunately develop this type of cancer are mainly women over 60 years old and reside in urban areas. A significant proportion had prolonged exposure to wood smoke. Adenocarcinoma was positioned as the most important histopathologic subtype, as was found in more than half of the patients. | es_CO |
