Densities and refractive indices of binary mixtures of 1 -Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methanesulfonate, 1 -Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate, 1 -Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Ethyl Sulfate, hexane, cyclohexane, benzene, heptane, nonane, dodecane with thiophene and from these data excess properties are calculated as molar excess volume and refractive index change at 298,15 and 308,15K. The molar excess volume and refractive index deviation for these systems were fitted to a Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The densities of the binary mixtures with the hydrocarbons obtained showed that in fractions rich in these hydrocarbons they increase with the number of carbon atoms. The densities of the mixtures decreased with increasing temperature. The volumes of molar excess were positive throughout the range of molar fraction in the studied solvents and increased slightly with temperature, the variations in the refractive index tended towards negative values in most cases. The refractive index changes produce negative values throughout the molar fraction range for the six mixtures with hydrocarbons investigated; the least negative value is reported for the benzene + thiophene mixture, the most negative value of the refractive index change is for the dodecane + thiophene mixture. For the binary mixtures studied, the factors that influence the value and sign of the change in refractive index and molar excess volume are, among others, the difference in the shape, size and polarity of the molecules and the variation of the forces existing between them, the molecules of pure compounds with the addition of a new component.es_CO
