    dc.descriptionINTRODUCCIÓN: El presente artículo se realizó con la finalidad de conocer la efectividad de la maniobra Epley en comparación con la maniobra Semont en personas con Vértigo Posicional Paroxístico Benigno (VPPB), incluye aspectos relacionados con procesos de evaluación e intervención en el área de audiología. MÉTODOS: Se implementó una revisión sistemática meta-analítica, el método que orientó la investigación fue la metodología PRISMA; la estrategia PICO para la formulación de la pregunta de investigación, el instrumento QUADAS-2 para evaluar el riesgo de sesgo, el programa RevMan Manager 5.4.1 para el meta-análisis y la herramienta GRADEpro para clasificar el nivel de evidencia y grado de recomendación. RESULTADOS: Fueron localizados 70 artículos, de los cuales al realizar la revisión literaria 4 cumplían con los criterios establecidos para meta-análisis. ANÁLISIS Y DISCUSIÓN: La evidencia encontrada demuestra que la efectividad de la maniobra Epley radica en que su recuperación se da en un corto periodo de tiempo con respecto a la maniobra Semont. CONCLUSIONES: La efectividad de las maniobras es segura y eficiente, siendo la maniobra Epley el estándar de oro para tratar el VPPB.es_CO
    dc.description.abstractINTRODUCTION: The present article was carried out in order to know the effectiveness of the Epley maneuver in comparison with the Semont maneuver in people with Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), it includes aspects related to evaluation and intervention processes in the area of audiology. METHODS: A systematic meta-analytic review was implemented, the method that guided the research was the PRISMA methodology; the PICO strategy for formulating the research question, the QUADAS-2 instrument to assess the risk of bias, the RevMan Manager 5.4.1 program for the metaanalysis and the GRADEpro tool to classify the level of evidence and grade of recommendation. RESULTS: Seventy articles were located, of which when conducting the literary review, 4 met the criteria established for meta-analysis. ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION: The evidence found shows that the effectiveness of the Epley maneuver is that its recovery occurs in a short period of time compared to the Semont maneuver. CONCLUSIONS: The effectiveness of the maneuvers is safe and efficient, with the Epley maneuver being the gold standard for treating BPPV.es_CO
